Which dance and/or yoga classes do you take at the studio and how long have you been at the studio?
Barre and beginner ballet level 1. I started with the Barre class 2 years ago and added the ballet class after two terms.
Did you ever take lessons as a child?
I did ballet from about 7 to 14.
Why did you decide to take lessons as an adult?
I had wanted to for a long time, but had been busy with my kids and work. I decided it was time to do something for me. My google search took me to the Loft. It was exactly what I was looking for.
What is your favourite part about movement classes & how do they benefit your day to day life?
I feel stronger in my core, I walk with a spring in my step. I love going to my classes, I stop thinking about work and cooking dinner and chill out for an hour. I focus on my movement, muscles, posture and breathing. I love the music and the challenge. I feel great after class and I do enjoy showing my family my moves.
What is your least favourite part?
Term 1 can be warm and I don’t enjoy sweating, I’m always glad to push through and I never like to miss a class.
Who/What is your dance/yoga/movement inspiration?
I have always loved classical ballet, watching it and attempting to do it.
What advice would you like to give to those who want to start a dance or yoga class at The Loft?
Just do it. It is a wonderful space and great location. All of the teachers have been amazing, so positive, supportive and inviting. The classes are filled with people who also love to dance or move and are all so friendly.
