Covid-19 Policies and Procedures 2021

Thank you for taking the time to read and familiarise yourself with our procedures. Our studio  guidelines have been informed by the Victorian Government, Department of Health, Safework Australia and the recently released Ausdance Australia document – Return to dance: Principles and framework for restarting dance activities post-Covid-19. The health and safety of our studio community is our highest priority. We believe that movement plays a huge role in our health and wellbeing and with sensible precautions in place, adhering to government advice, we can safely return to dance and yoga classes.

In line with Government recommendations, we ask that all persons attending the studio meet the following criteria:

  • No flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath)
  • No overseas travel within the last 14 days or contact with anyone who has returned from overseas recently
  • No contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with Covid-19, is being tested for it or has flu-like symptoms
  • All students attending the studio must be DOUBLE VACCINATED and provide a copy of their digital certificate at sign up.

We will be keeping accurate class records of who attends each class. This is no different to our normal procedures.

  • All class sizes are in line with government guidelines, max 16 students per class plus instructor
  • Reduce person to person contact by staying 1. 5 meters apart
  • No physical corrections from teachers

To maintain adequate air flow, both the door and window will remain open at all times to help maintain a continuous air flow. We encourage our students to bring an extra layer, do a thorough warm up and keep moving.

  • Provision of anti-bacterial handwash and paper towel – please dispose in bins provided.
  • All students/participants to hand sanitize upon arrival.
  • Students to bring own water bottles only, no use of kitchen facilities incl tea and coffee making.
  • Students to bring own mats for barre, yoga and pilates classes.
  • Students may use studio props such as weights and resistance bands for classes, but these must be cleaned after use.

The studio will be strictly cleaned on a regular basis, with hospital grade disinfectant used on high traffic areas. Our staff will wipe down common areas and equipment – barres, door handles, stair bannister, music equipment. This will ensure a hygienic space in between classes.

  • Participants and parents to wait downstairs or preferably outside in the fresh air until the previous class is finished before entering studio. No parents or extra people to come in and use lounge area to watch classes.
  • All persons to use hand santitizer upon entering studio
  • Students to come dressed and limit use of changerooms.
  • Please, no eating inside the studio or use of kitchen area, except to wash hands.
  • Limit person to person socialising time inside the studio – “we love you, but get in, dance and get out”

Class sizes are limited to 16 to ensure our Covid Safe obligations, this is below our required density quota.

In the event of future government restrictions where we are required to close the studio, all enrolments will be transferred to online zoom lessons OR suspended until we can safely re-open. This will be at the discretion of the studio. Any term fees paid will not be refunded, however all classes will be honored – either in person or online.

All students and staff agree to these policies and procedures and assist us to keep The Loft a healthy and safe working environment.
